We expected that it would need work - that was the whole point. The house had fantastic views, was in an excellent location, and had plenty of space - things that could never have been bought or added on.

But...

My god - were we not expecting the sheer amount of work that it would take! Poor quality, bad workmanship, years of neglect, lack of basic cleaning. It was a disaster - and it got much worse before it got better.

It is getting better though.
