The Plastering

The walls were in a hell of a state - not surprisingly - covered in thick wallpaper and orange paint. The furniture (which was left for us - yuck!) was hiding rusty radiators, sockets and light switches held in by silicone, and areas that had evidently not been seen or cleaned for years. No wonder he left it all there.

It all had to go. Furniture, coving, skirtings, radiators and bags of thick wallpaper. Everything that you could see.

And No, I didn't do the plastering. Paul and Mark did. Although I had to rebuild the walls around light switches, remove the crappy timber that was boxing in the fireplace, old ventilation system, coving, skirting, old switches.... It did give me the chance to hide some cables though.

We now have flat walls... Flat ceiling... Recessed switches and sockets... No Coving (she doesn't like coving)... New radiators... You get the idea.
