The Look

The exterior was Drab and dirty, like it had never been washed. (Much like the rest of the house then!) It had to be cleaned, but although fun, pressure washing probably wasn't the answer. This would have just blasted off all the stones leaving an inevitable mess, then the open pored old render would have attracted dirt quicker...

The solution - hack off and re-render? Although looking at next door, this was probably not a good idea either. It just accentuated the cracks.

So we went for a paint job. 2 coats of white, followed by 2 coats of magnolia. It was hard work, but worth it in the end.
